Under the Patronage of H.E. Dr. Muhammad Hamed (Minister of Energy & Mineral Resources) the 2015 New Nuclear International Conference was presented by Goodnight Consulting, in partnership with the Jordan Atomic Energy Commission and the Jordan University of Science & Technology. The conference was held at the King Hussien bin Talal Convention Centre on the Dead Sea in Jordan. Representatives from 24 countries were in attendance. The day before the conference a tour of the Jordan Research and Training Reactor was arranged for VIPs and representatives from nuclear new build countries.
This was probably the hardest conference that we have done. Less than a month before the event, IS released the video of the Jordanian pilot. The King of Jordan responded with a call to war. While the country was actually a very safe place to be at the time, there were a lot of security concerns from many of our attendees. Many of them did not come for their own personal reasons or their government released a travel ban to and from Jordan. Even with these obstacles, there were over 100 attendees and important offline discussions were had.
Once again, Goodnight Consulting showed our ability to bring key people together to solve a problem. In this case, a nuclear new build country was looking for advice on how to optimize their program. We were able to set up meetings with the IAEA, US Embassy representatives, the President of the American Nuclear Society, vendor experts and other members of the nuclear power community to help educate the country of Jordan on how to best set up their program.
